Duke Law School Continues To Rank In The Top Ten Law Schools In America


 

When someone talks about the top ten law schools most likely you are going to hear about the Duke Law School located in Durham, North Carolina.  This law school has an outstanding reputation and has been consistently ranked in the top ten law schools in America for a long time.  It is noted for producing lawyers who are leaders, thinkers, excellent writers, and sharp advocates in any court of law.  If you are thinking about applying to Duke Law School make sure that you apply early and have the right credentials.  Only about four percent of the applicants are accepted to the school of law.  At the present time there are close to 700 students working on earning their J.D. Degree at Duke.

 

Why is it difficult to be accepted at the Duke Law School?  The competition is some of the toughest you will find in the country.  The median Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) is 168 and the average grade point average (G.P.A.) is 3.78.  In addition to those standards of excellence you also must have a Bachelor's Degree to be considered for admission.  Your application must show a record of achievement, community service, a personal statement, a resume, and letters of recommendation.  Your application package will most likely be followed up by a personal interview on campus to demonstrate your passion for seeking a law degree at Duke.

 

The Duke Law School has many directions and fields of study that you can pursue.  The strong points about the law schools include: corporate and commercial law, public policy, intellectual property law, international law, and tax law.  It is a very modern facility with the latest in technology to help create a student centered learning environment.  It is one of two universities in the United States that has the reputation of being the most wired school in the country.  The do encourage international experience and have summer institutes in Geneva and Asia.

 

The cost of going to the Duke Law School is going to be over $64,000 a year.  This includes tuition costs of almost $45,000 a year.  You must also have your own lap top computer.  Housing and food is estimated at around $10,000 a year.  Books will cost a law student around $1300 a year, and transportation will be about $2000 a year.  It is not inexpensive to attend Duke Law School but if you do earn your law degree from Duke the average starting salary of a Duke graduate is $160,000 a year.

It's funny that you say when you ask about the top ten schools that Duke is often mentioned because everyone I asked was talking about Duke, often before any other school. This school seems to have built itself a reputation through success and example, I even heard other schools mention duke as a good school when I was scouting for a school to attend!
