Emory Law School Is Ranked A Top Twenty Five Law School Located In Atlanta Georgia


 

The Emory Law School located in Atlanta, Georgia, was founded in 1916.  It is located about six miles from the city and is located on what is considered a beautiful campus setting and in a very safe and secure neighborhood.  It has always been considered a top twenty five law school as ranked by many third party services and by the American Bar Association (ABA).  The law school accepts about 900 students every year.  With the popularity of the area, the high ranking, and the prestige of Emory Law School, they receive close to 4,000 applicants every year.  The competition is tough to be accepted.

 

The average Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) for the Emory Law School is 162, and the median grade point average (G.P.A) is 3.5.  The student body is very diverse with about an even percentage of men and women, and about twenty five percent of the student body belonging to minority groups.  The average age of of students is about twenty four.  The Emory Law School is noted for being a very friendly and open campus.  The faculty members receive high ratings in friendliness, being helpful, and having open door policies for students.  The admission process is more simplified than most law schools and Emory is noted as weighing your under graduate grades as more important than your LSAT scores.

 

A high emphasis is placed on litigation training at the Emory Law School.  Many Emory graduates tend to become trial attorneys because of this experience.  The law school itself is noted for international law, intellectual property law, business law, human rights law, health law, environmental law, and labor law.  Because of its location to many of the Fortune 500 companies it is a great place to find first hand experience with the top corporations of America.

 

The tuition cost for Emory Law School runs about $35,000 a year.  There is not much on-campus housing available and the Atlanta area is a high priced place to live.  The cost for rent and food is likely to cost upwards of $13,000 a year even if you share the costs with a roommate.  With other costs for books, health insurance, and incidentals you will need close to $60,000 a year to pay for all of your costs of attending the Emory Law School in Atlanta.  Over the past decade the popularity of Emory has grown and the reputation of the law school has increased making it a popular university for applicants.

the 3.5 is just the average, you can get in with a 3.0 if all your other stuff is in line and you make a good impression with your application letter, the interview (if you get one) and so forth. My friend got in with a 3.2 gpa even though some of the other students were 4.0 with some of the same qualifications.

3.5? wow, my grades were about 3.0 sometimes lower, I know getting into medical school requires almost a 4.0 gpa but I didn't realize law school had these types of acceptance expectations. I have been seriously considering Emory as a choice but worry now that my grades may not be high enough...
