Located in Chicago, Illinois, the Northwestern Law School has a strong national reputation and is currently ranked by the U.S. News and World Report as the number 10 law school in its listing of top law schools in the country.  It is located in the heart of downtown Chicago on Lake Shore Drive.  The law school has an enrollment of about 780 students and accepts close to 250 new students each year for enrollment.  Every year the Northwestern Law School receives close to 4000 applicants.  Competition is extremely difficult for admission based on these numbers.

The average Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score is 170 which is in the top two percent of nationwide scores.  The median grade point average (G.P.A.) is 3.70.  You must commit to being a full time day student because that is the only type of student they accept for admission.  Beyond LSAT scores and a high G.P.A. you must also fill out an application form, write a personal statement, submit a resume, show work experience and leadership skills.  During the admission process you will be interviewed and must have a Bachelor's Degree.  The committee also looks at extracurricular activities as part of the admissions review.

The Northwestern Law School has several excellent law programs for you to choose from for specialization.  The have strong programs in trial advocacy, tax law, legal writing, international law, and dispute resolution.  Of course they also have other areas of specialty law which you can read about at their web site in detail.

The total cost for attending the Northwestern Law School is going to be expensive.  It is estimated that you will pay out over $73,000 to be a full time student.  Tuition will cost you $47,200 per year, books will run about $1400, insurance will cost $2300.  Room and board will amount to over $12,000 a year even if you live on campus.  For those who wish to rent it may cost even more money. There is also a $100 application fee for admission.

To join the ranks of alumni like William Jennings Bryan, Arthur Goldberg, John Paul Stevens, Adlai Stevenson and Jerry Springer then the Northwestern Law School is where you want to earn your J.D. Degree.  It is a very modern facility offering the very best in an education to become a lawyer and work as an attorney anywhere in the country. The national reputation of this law school will allow to seek out a career path that very few will ever experience.

These numbers are correct if not understated. This school is tough to get into but well worth the effort. I got in by the skin of my teeth and I had almost a 4.0 gpa, qualified in every way and even went above and beyond in school to boost my portfolio. With this kind of competition to get into a school, trust me, when you mention you graduated from Northwest, you will beat out other applicants who graduated from other schools that were easier to get into. if your still in high school and concidering Northwest law school I implore you to keep your nose clean, join clubs, (that pertain to things like law) and build your portfolio now and in college- it will matter!
