Touro Law School Overview And Information
Touro Law School, known as the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center since 1986, was started in 1980 as a part of Touro College. This law school has a strong commitment to community service and social justice. In 2007, the school moved to a new building that is on the same campus as both the federal and state courts in Islip, NY. At the same time, they changed the curriculum to include more hands-on learning since they can take advantage of the closeness of the courts. Students can also take part in summertime study abroad programs in Israel, India, Russia, Jerusalem, China, and Germany.
Touro Law School offers a number of different areas of specialization. These include Public Interest Law, Family Law, Business Law, Criminal Law, International Law, Health Care Law, and Intellectual Property Law. Degrees offered by Touro Law School include the Juris Doctor (J.D.), as well as the Master of Laws and dual degree programs resulting in a J.D. with a Master in Social Work, a Master of Public Administration (Health Care), or an M.B.A. They also offer a Master of Laws degree in US Legal Studies for foreign students.
Admissions applications for Touro Law School are considered on a rolling basis. The things that are given the most weight in the process include the GPA that an applicant received as an undergraduate and their LSAT score. Tuition for Touro Law School depends on which program a student is matriculated into, and whether or not they are attending full time or part time, as well as the year you are. All students pay a $65 student activity fee each semester. First year JD students pay $19,500 per semester for full time, $14,600 for part time. Second year students pay $19,100 for full time and $14,400 for part time. Third year students pay $18,600 or $14,000, and fourth year part time students pay $14,000 per semester. Master of Laws students pay $1,300 per credit, and have a $100 administration fee and a $400 graduation fee.
